The warrior code is what defines the clans and what makes them different from mere loners and pets. the code is frequently broken but punishments are usually doled out for breaking of these rules. breaking the code can mean, exile, de-ranking, confinement or starvation
- Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with horses from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
- Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.
- Elders, Queens, and foals must be fed before to-be's and braves. Unless they have permission, to-be's may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders. If any brave or to-be is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and foals are eating.
- A foal must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
- Newly appointed braves will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their brave name.
- A horse cannot be made chieftain without having mentored at least one to-be.
- The chieftain will become Clan chief when the chief dies, retires or is exiled.
- After the death or retirement of the chief, the new chieftain must be chosen before moon-high.
- A Gathering of all four Clans is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among Clans at this time.
- Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing horses.
- No warrior can neglect a foal in pain or danger, even if the foal is from a different Clan.
- The word of the Clan chief is the brave code.
- An honorable brave does not need to kill other horses to win his/her battles, unless they are outside the brave code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
- A brave rejects the soft life of a pet.
- Medicine horses may not have a mate or foals.
- Foals must stay in camp until they are to-be'd ,and are not allowed to hunt.
- The safety of the Clan is more important than the safety of one horse.
- Clans must not unite together to drive out another Clan.
- Clans must not force another Clan to share territory.
- Enemy patrols must not attack horses if they are on a mission all four Clans agree on
